I can't believe its been a year now since that darling angel arrived. We waited for her for what seemed like ages! She came on her own, when she was ready, and she's marched - er, crawled - to the beat of her own drum ever since. In this way she is so much like her mom was at that age. I'm five years older than Lee Lee's mom, and honestly, she was quite a pain when she turned mobile at 10 months old! My sister's been calling the shots since she was born, and now she's met her match with her younger daughter.
We had Lee Lee's birthday party on Sunday. It wasn't a big affair; just aunts, uncles, two cousins, grandparents and the baby from church and her parents. My family grew up with the baby's mom, so she's kinda like part of the family anyway. Either way, we had babies all over the place, with Baby Lori being 6 months old, Holly being 5 months old, and of course, the Birthday Girl.
I started a tradition at Bella's 1st birthday: taking pictures of the honoree in the largest gift wrapping bag. Bella and Lizzie HATED being in those bags, but not Lee Lee! We couldn't get her OUT of the bag once Daddy put her inside and helped her stand up. She plopped down on her bottom and peeked out the clear window in the side of the bag, and then she pulled the side down to peek over the bag. She was so pleased with herself!
This afternoon I called to wish Lee Lee a happy birthday. She was too busy enjoying a bottle but my brother-in-law says she smiled when she heard my voice. I got an earful from Lizzie, however. It poured most of the day (we really need more rain) so she told me about plowing through puddles with the family dog and how wet and dirty they got.
Today is also my sister-in-law's birthday. Happy birthday to her too!
