TODAY IS BELLA'S 3RD BIRTHDAY! Where did my baby girl go? She's a big girl now!
Sunday we had her family birthday party and it was quite the busy day with fantastic weather to match. My brother bought her an inflatable wading pool a couple weeks ago and Bella, Lizzie, and Lee Lee couldn't wait to try it out!
Since Lee Lee was going in, I volunteered to supervise her inside it while my sister took pictures. She kicked and had fun until the bigger girls splashed her face with water and then it was all over. I got out of the pool with her and visited with my aunt, mom, and Bella's other nannie.
Not long after that I heard my name being called back to the pool: "Auntie Phinnie come here! Take a picture!" The girls had been doing a variation of puddle stomping in the pool and were hanging onto the side while they were "jumping! jumping! jumping!".
With my $700 digital camera in hand, I ambled over. (Best savvy auntie purchase I ever made: going digital when the girls were born!!) I got ready to snap a picture when they splashed me a good one, soaking my shirt, shorts, and barely missing the camera.
Squealing with delight, the girls yelled "We got Auntie!"
I squealed too, but it wasn't exactly a happy squeal! I dashed away, gave my camera to Lizzie's dad, who was not in splashing distance, and returned to the pool. My initial protest at getting wet just egged them on more. They were sooooo proud of themselves for getting Auntie wet.
Bella turned to Lizzie and said "it worked! we got her!"
Sounds like, to me, that they planned this. Maybe I'm slow, but I didn't know they could do that type of reasoning so young! At least it made their day!
