I can hardly believe it - Holly is 8 weeks old now and over 8 pounds; she's growing like a weed! As she gets older, I think she looks more and more like her mother. She's just a doll.
And she is also a serious Daddy's girl, no doubt about that! She's already put this auntie in her place!
Yesterday we were all at my mom's house and my brother gave Holly to me. She had been happy, cooing, and smiling away, but as soon as she landed in my arms, the smile vanished and she broke out in a sob. I patted her bottom; I put her to my shoulder; I rocked her back and forth, and she still cried and cried. She was in a full wail by the time I gave up and returned her to my brother. Holly immediately calmed down and began smiling at Daddy.
Today was the memorial service for my friend. During the refreshments period, my brother was holding Holly out in front him, talking to her. Her eyes didn't move from Daddy's face; she was smiling and seemed like she was moving her lips to follow his. I asked if I could hold her.
My brother looked at Holly and asked "you are going to cry if you go see Auntie Phinnie?" Holly kept looking at him, but the corner of her mouth curled up and she blinked. it was so funny!
He asked her the question again, and again she smirked. He handed Holly to me so he could go scold Bella.
I hadn't even gotten her settled in my arms when Holly looked at me, and her face just crumpled. I couldn't help but laugh; sure enough, she started fussing and crying. Friend around me started laughing and giggling b/c sure enough.... she's a daddy's girl!
What made it even more funny is that as soon as he heard her crying, my brother came back over and took her from me. As soon as she saw Daddy, the tears were gone and the smile came back!
